Helpful Tips
This section has some helpful tips and tricks that you may be able to use to fix a problem yourself or can be useful to increase your everyday productivity.
Firefox tips
- Domain completion: When entering an address in the address bar, you can just type the name or the site and then hit Clt+Enter and Firefox will add the http://www. and .com around the site. A trick you may not have known is Shift+Enter adds.net to the address and Ctrl+Shift+Enter adds .org. (This works in IE 7 also)
- Auto open in new tab. When you click on a link, hold the Ctrl key while clicking. This will open the page in a new tab. If you have a scroll mouse clicking the scroll wheel has the same effect. You can also close a tab by clicking on the tab with the scroll click. . On a laptop with no middle button, click the left and right mouse at the same time. (These works in IE 7 also)
- Auto open in new window Holding Shift + click opens in a new window.
- Jump to address bar. To get to the address bar from whatever tab or page you are on press Alt+D
- Moving through Tabs. You can quickly move through open tabs by holding Clrl and pressing Tab to move to the next tab to the right. Hold Clrt+Shift then the Tab key to move to the left of the tab.
